Clara co-founded Avalon with partners Dave Rahn and Bill Oberman in 1992. Clara’s initial involvement in the team was as head of investment research. Clara’s role has evolved over the years to include comprehensive wealth planning, portfolio management and business management responsibilities. She remains a central member of the investment strategy team, devoting more than 25 years developing the models and methods used in the investment selection and research process at Avalon. Prior to co-founding Avalon in 1992, she was Vice- President in charge of foreign currency strategy and asset allocation research for Bailard , Biehl and Kaiser.
Clara wrote extensively on the subject of technology and investing for the Red Herring Magazine, a dot-com era financial journal. She also worked as an Institutional Account Representative at the Pacific Options Exchange. Clara left the world of music in 1985 to begin her career in global asset management. She was educated at the University of Notre Dame and San Francisco State University.
